For wine collectors and investors Bordeaux remains the pinnacle of the market. With a tantalisingly small amount of wine produced by the top 30 chateaux for a rapidly expanding world market, investing in sought-after Bordeaux – the top Chateaux include Latour, Margaux, Haut Brion, Lafite and Mouton Rothschild - can offer excellent returns, not to mention wonderful drinking.
But it’s always worth considering Bordeaux’s ‘‘Super-Seconds’, such as Château Leoville Barton and Chateau Poyferre, which sometimes offer higher returns – and more exciting discoveries - than the more familiar ‘first growths’
If Bordeaux remains the classic choice for the serious investor, it is by no means the only top quality option. Burgundy also offers good investment potential with the added bonus of drinking perhaps the best bottle of your life! Names like Montrachet, Moutonne, Corton Charlemagne, Echezeaux and Vosne Romanee are enough to stir the blood of any serious wine lover. We also consider for very serious inclusion, from around the world's fine wine vineyards, great bottles from Australia, Spain, California, Italy, Chile and Portugal.
